Mima Mounds

Mima Mounds Natural Area Preserve is known around the world for its mounded landscape.

The site was designated as a National Natural Landmark in 1966.

These unusual and mysterious mounds are covered by beautiful prairie grassland with native wildflowers and bunch grasses.

The site features paved trails, ramped observation decks and an interpretive center (shown above).

This area is maintained by Washington State Department of Natural Resources.
